Deputy Minister of Health Vasylyshyn remanded for two months with right to post bail

Dniprovskyi district court of Kyiv imposed pretrial confinement against Deputy Minister of Health Roman Vasylyshyn suspected of bribe-taking and set a bail of 2.8 million hryvnia (about $112,000).

This was said by Judge Myroslava Marchenko, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.

"Grant the petition of the investigating team to impose pretrial confinement against the suspect," she said.

According to Marchenko, Vasylyshyn has been arrested until Sept. 3. However, Vasylyshyn's lawyers believe that the pressure has been put on the court.

According to lawyer Mykola Shchupen, the law enforcers had made statements on Vasylyshyn's guilt before they served him notice of suspicion which could be considered pressure on the court.

Vasylyshyn stressed that he intended to appeal against the decision. The official also noted that he would start raising money to post a bail.
