 Putin, Merkel, Hollande discussed removal of heavy weapons and troops from contact line in Donbas, - Kremlin press service

Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and leader of France François Hollande.

The parties have talked the settlement of the situation in the Donbas, Censor.NET reports referring to the Kremlin press service.

"The leaders have discussed the internal Ukrainian crisis, expressed concern about the recent increase in cease-fire violations in the Donbas, accentuated the priority of preventing any further deterioration of the situation in the conflict zone and, to this end, withdrawing heavy weapons and troops from the contact line. At that, the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission should play an important role in ensuring the truce," the statement notes.

"The parties have stressed the need to intensify negotiations in various formats for the full and comprehensive implementation of the Minsk package of measures of Feb. 12, 2015. They have noted the expediency of synchronizing efforts in the field of security and political settlement, which includes the legitimization of permanent special status of the Donbas, the conduct of constitutional reform and amnesty, the holding of local elections," the Kremlin stated.
