U.S. President Barack Obama and President Vladimir Putin of Russia reached no agreement on a new co-operation in Syria in a telephone conversation they held on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters before leaving for the NATO Summit in Warsaw, Press Secretary in the White House Office of Communications Josh Earnest also said that Obama intended to discuss with European leaders the Syrian refugee crisis, the situation in Russia and Ukraine, as well as the implications of the UK's decision to withdraw from the European Union.

On Wednesday night, the Kremlin said that Putin and Obama reaffirmed their readiness to improve the military coordination in Syria and discussed the settlement of conflicts in Ukraine's east of and Nagorno-Karabakh.
