Censor.NET reports citing Rivne region prosecutor's office press service.
"Pursuant to prosecutor general's order of July 7, 2016, first deputy prosecutor of the Rivne region, senior counselor of justice Pavlo Romanchuk is appointed acting prosecutor of the Rivne region," the statement reads.
Romanchuk has held the post of first deputy prosecutor of the Rivne region since Aug. 6, 2015.
On July 4, law enforcers conducted a large-scale operation titled "Burshtyn" (amber) in the Rivne region, with participation of more than 400 field investigators. Deputy head of Rivne regional prosecutor Andrii Borovyk was detained. The National Police also informed that an amber mafia boss was apprehended in Kyiv. On July 7, Chief Military Prosecutor Anatolii Matios reported that all five detainees in the "amber case" were remanded in a two-month custody by the Holosiivskyi district court of Kyiv. On the same day, Prosecutor General Yurii Lutsenko dismissed Rivne region prosecutor Anatolii Kovalchuk.
