Military prosecutor's office leads in probing cases outside its competence, - Anti-Corruption Prosecutor Kholodnytskyi

As the fight against corruption gains momentum, all law enforcement agencies are willing to join in.

Head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office Nazar Kholodnytskyi said in an interview with 5 Channel, Censor.NET reports.

"I can not explain why the agencies that are not authorized to investigate this or that case are still engaged in the process. It's a sheer neglect of the legal system, it is even an abuse of power. With the struggle against corruption being popular, everyone wants to partake.

"The article 87 of the Criminal Procedure Code clearly states that evidence obtained by an unauthorized body is invalid and shall not be subject to examination in court," Kholodnytskyi said.

"By the way, speaking of the case against the Mykolaiv region deputy head, I do not understand why the military prosecutor's office engaged in it, they are not allowed. The article 216 defines jurisdiction - deputy governor falls under the NABU's jurisdiction. Nevertheless, they opened a case, spent resources. Instead of doing their work, they issue notices of suspicion. The military prosecutor's office is the main abuser," he added.

"And I will not tolerate such things, the NABU will not take over and accomplish such cases, as we [the NABU - ed.] are not meant for cleaning the mess and correcting mistakes of other authorities," Kholodnytskyi stressed.
