 Obama expects Minsk deal implementation before end of his tenure, - US Ambassador to Russia Tefft

U.S. Ambassador to Russia John Tefft said that the U.S. President Barack Obama expected the Minsk agreements to be implemented before his tenure was over.

According to the ambassador, it is an open secret that there are tensions between the U.S. and the Russian Federation. However, John Tefft noted that the U.S. made efforts to facilitate negotiations to resolve the conflict in the Donbas, adding that Victoria Nuland visited Russia with this objective in view two weeks ago.

He also stressed that the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs worked closely with the German and the French side, as well as Kyiv and Mr. Surkov in Russia.

According to the diplomat, Victoria Nuland is making every effort for the Minsk deal to be implemented as soon as possible.

As reported earlier, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry planned to discuss Minsk agreements implementation, Ukraine-NATO cooperation, and Ukraine's Armed Forces reform during his visit to Kyiv.
