US, Canada to inspect Russia's territory from air

Between July 4-9, the Canada-U.S. joint mission, pursuant to the international Open Skies Treaty, will perform an observation flight over Russia's territory aboard a Canadian C-130 observing aircraft from the Tiksi Airport.

Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.

"In the course of the flight on the agreed route, Russian specialists on board an observing aircraft will monitor the adherence to the agreed flight parameters as well as the use of equipment specified by the Treaty," Head of the National Center for Nuclear Risk Reduction of Ukraine Sergey Ryzhkov said.

C-130 observing aircraft belongs to the class of non-combat planes.

Sergey Ryzhkov noted that the aircraft and the observation equipment (aerial cameras) it carries have undergone an international certification, including with the participation of Russian specialists, which excludes the use of technical means not specified by the Treaty.
