Bill on elections in Donbas cannot be drafted by Minsk negotiators, - Aivazovska

The format of the political subgroups of the Trilateral Contact Group aimed at settling the conflict in Ukraine’s east does not stipulate for drafting a bill on the elections in the occupied territories of the Donbas.

Ukrainian representative to the political subgroup of the Trilateral Contact Group Olha Aivazovska told Hromadske, Censor.NET reports.

According to her, no international platform can initiate or promote a bill as this falls under the purview of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

"The format of the political subgroup in Minsk does not envisage the development of a bill that could be adopted by the Verkhovna Rada. We insist that the Verkhovna Rada, the lawmakers, the Cabinet, and the president are the subjects with the right of the legislative initiative," Aivazovska emphasized.
