Poroshenko said today, delivering a speech at the Training Center of the National Guard of Ukraine in the Kyiv region, Censor.NET reports citing UNIAN.
"Despite the fact that the law stipulates for the National Guard to be engaged in accomplishing other tasks, a meeting with the Defense Minister, Chief of General Staff, National Guard Commander will be held on my behalf in the near future," he said.
"We will provide the opportunity for the soldiers of the the National Guard to become, so to speak, fire-seasoned, so that they feel what it means to be at the forefront and not to ' bow down to bullets'," the president added.
"I think we will find such opportunity, despite the fact that we continue supporting the peaceful settlement of the situation," the head of state said.
"I've paid a visit to our National Guard fighters, who were among the first who rose to defend Ukraine in 2014. I have instantly recognized legendary foreman Anatolii Skrytskyi among others. He was providing fire near the Donetsk airport to the last to battle through the encirclement for our detachments to be able to leave it Jan. 22, 2015. He is the one known to the whole Europe if not the whole world. His manly face has graced the exhibition of portraits of the ATO heroes "16", which was previously displayed in the Presidential Administration, and now welcomes the guests of Ukraine in the Boryspil airport.
" I was extremely glad to talk to our hero," Poroshenko wrote and posted the serviceman's picture.
