 Military Prosecutor's Office investigates circumstances of bridge support shelling in Zhytomyr region

Military Prosecutor's Office of the Zhytomyr region is investigating circumstances of the incident which happened in the village of Denyshi in the Zhytomyr region as a result of which shell hit a closed bridge.

Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the Military Prosecutor's Office.

According to media reports, the shell was fired from a military training ground and hit an old bridge in Denyshi village on June 17, 2016.

The Military Prosecutor's Office stressed that the representatives of the Defense Ministry together with the National Police officers and bomb squad of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine visited the scene.

"It was established that military training (gun fire) was conducted by the soldiers at the military training ground. The shell of unknown origin hit the bridge support in the village of Denyshi in the Zhytomyr region around 1:30 p.m. No one suffered as a result of the incident. Extent of loss of property is being established," the report reads.

It was stressed that a nearby working bridge hasn't been damaged.

"Military Prosecutor's Office of the Zhytomyr region is conducting an inspection in order to clarify the circumstances, causes and conditions of the incident.
