Italy opposes automatic, undiscussed extension of sanctions against Russia, - Prime Minister Renzi

Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi said at a press conference at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum that his country will not support the automatic extension of sanctions against Russia during the next regular meeting of the EU ambassadors.

According to Renzi, sanctions can not be extended automatically as if it is some routine issue. He said that Italy will demand a debate on sanctions at the next meeting of the EU ambassadors in Brussels so that they are not automatically extended and the participants could also get to know at what stage the implementation of the Minsk agreements is.
