Interior minister adviser Zorian Shkiriak told journalists at the scene, Censor.NET reports.
"I want to mention a highly professional job of National Police in the Donetsk region deputy heads Matviichuk and Kolisnyk who professionally conducted negotiations and convinced the attacker to lay down arms and surrender," he said.
According to Shkiriak, the man is a former sailor. He put on a uniform, climbed down a ladder that was put up against the window, and surrendered.
Besides, Shkiriak said the investigators are working at the scene.
As previously reported, a resident of the Prymorskyi district of Mariupol, who reportedly possessed banned weapons, barricaded in his apartment and resisted law enforcers. The man opened fire, wounding one police officer.
