 Oleh Zhuchenko appointed Odesa region’s prosecutor

Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yurii Lutsenko has appointed Oleh Zhuchenko prosecutor of the Odesa region.

Prosecutor General's Office head said at a briefing in Odesa, Censor.NET informs citing Ukrainski Novyny.

Yurii Lutsenko also introduced Zhuchenko's team on Friday.

Zhuchenko has been region's acting prosecutor since March.

He was born in 1986 in Lityn, the Vinnytsia region. Oleh Zhuchenko graduated from the Odesa National Law Academy in 2007.

He started his career in prosecuting authorities as an investigator of the Leninskyi district Prosecutor's Office of Vinnytsia.

Zhuchenko has been occupying position of the First Deputy Prosecutor of the Odesa region since December 2015.

Earlier, Odesa activists protested against the appointment of Mykola Stoianov as prosecutor of the Odesa region April 3, 2016. Following several rallies, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko demanded to immediately dismiss Odesa region's Prosecutor Stoianov under the law on cleansing of the ranks of power.

The Prosecutor General's Office dismissed Odesa region prosecutor Mykola Stoianov as falling under lustration law April 15, 2016.
