Censor.NET informs citing the situation report by the ATO Staff press center as at 6 a.m. June 17.
"Following the relative calm and decrease in number of attacks yesterday night and morning, the Russian occupants have stepped up assaults after 6 p.m. especially in the vicinity of Marinka, where they employed small arms and grenade launchers of various systems against the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine more than 10 times," the report reads.
According to the Staff, a total of 46 attacks on the ATO forces' positions were recorded over the past 24 hours, including 24 at the Mariupol, 18 at the Donetsk and four at the Luhansk section of the front.
"The enemy fired at strongholds near Krasnohorivka with IFV gun, Zu-23-2 anti-aircraft gun, employed heavy mortars later, and fired two rounds with a tank gun.
"Besides, two civilians received injuries as Marinka checkpoint came under enemy fire at about 7 p.m.," the update reads.
It was noted that the Russian occupants fired at the Ukrainian troops' strongholds on the outskirts of Shyrokyne, Vodiane, Hnutove, Slavne, and Novotroitske at the Mariupol section of the front with large-caliber machine guns and grenade launchers of various systems.
The enemy employed large-caliber machine guns and automatic grenade launchers against ATO troops' positions near Novhorodske and Zaitseve at the Donetsk section of the front as well as committed mortar strike on the positions close to Nevelske, Luhanske, and Troitske.
It was also reported that the ATO forces' strongholds near Novooleksandrivka and Popasna in the Luhansk region were shelled with 82-mm mortars, while Ukrainian soldiers deployed in the vicinity of Novozvanivka were fired at with grenade launchers.
Adviser to the Interior Minister Zorian Shkiriak earlier reported that Russian terrorists shelled civilians at Marinka checkpoint. Two Ukrainian citizens were severely injured during the assault. They were provided medical assistance while the checkpoint ceased operation.
