 SBU's counterintelligence eliminated 30 subversive groups, tried 13 Russian agents

The counterintelligence service of Ukraine's Security Service has promptly realigned its work and effectively counteracts Russian aggression.

Over the past 12 months, the SBU has eliminated 30 terrorist groups trained by Russia's secret services for sabotage not only in the area of anti-terrorist operation (ATO) but also in peaceful Ukrainian regions. Censor.NET reports referring to SBU press center.

As reported, the Russian secret services are engaged in unprecedented reconnaissance and subversive activities in Ukrainian territory, using the whole armory of hybrid war. Russia involves professional spies, agents of influence from among politicians, officials, and ordinary citizens intoxicated by the Russian propaganda.

"The SBU's effective resistance to Russia's activity is proved by statistics: during June 2015 - May 2016, based on SBU's counterintelligence materials, 367 criminal proceedings were instituted, including 76 under article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason), three - for espionage. 13 Russian intelligence agents are on trial: a deputy chief of the ATO Staff, a lieutenant colonel of the National Guard, an employee of the personnel department of a military unit, a Ukrainian soldier, residents of some Ukrainian regions that were in touch with Russia's operatives, providing them with limited access data," the statement reads.

The counterintelligence actively prevents attempts to create fake people's republic in different regions of Ukraine, intended to destabilize the social and political situation in the country.
