 Poroshenko approves simplified registration of medicines

President Petro Poroshenko has signed the law on amendments to article 9 of the law of Ukraine on medicines, simplifying the registration of medicines by the state.

Poroshenko called the signature a significant event which the country has moved to for many years, as certain government officials, business representatives, and monopolists in the medical market tried to create obstacles.

He said it at a meeting with public representatives and activists involved in the development of amendments to the said law.

"We'll get higher quality of medicines. There will be a competition in the internal market, and people will be able to choose the best value for money," Poroshenko noted.

According to him, this move will shut down a huge corruption component in the sphere. Moreover, leading pharmaceutical companies that refused to give bribes for ethical reasons will finally be able to come to Ukraine.

Poroshenko believes that the adoption of the law is only the first step on the way of reforming the entire healthcare system.

"There is still much to be done and I call for joint and coordinated efforts," the head of state concluded.
