 Poroshenko discusses armed police mission deployment in Donbas with OSCE PA president

President Petro Poroshenko had a meeting with President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Ilkka Kanerva.

Censor.NET reports citing Poroshenko's press office.

The head of state drew attention to the escalation of the security situation in the Donbas and continuation of provocations by militants and supply of weaponry and troops by Russia.

President Poroshenko noted the important role of the OSCE SMM in the control over the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements and ensuring peaceful settlement of the situation in the Donbas.

Petro Poroshenko underscored the importance of deploying the OSCE police mission in the Donbas, which would promote security and de-escalation.

The parties noted that sanctions remained an efficient instrument of encouraging Russia to fulfill the Minsk agreements in full and restoring Ukraine's territorial integrity.

The head of state is hopeful that the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly would further guard the international law and principles of the Helsinki Final Act, as well as strongly condemn Russia's violation of the abovementioned norms.
