 Parubii instructs Rada’s procedural committee to consider motion on stripping MP Onyshchenko of immunity and his arrest

Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andrii Parubii has instructed the Committee on Rules of Parliamentary Procedure and Support to Work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to promptly consider the motion regarding the stripping of the parliamentary immunity, arrest, and confinement of lawmaker Oleksandr Onyshchenko, a member of Volia Narodu parliamentary group.

He said at a briefing, Censor.NET reports.

"The Verkhovna Rada has already received the motion for criminal prosecution, detention and confinement of MP Oleksandr Onyshchenko and I am literally now going to sign the order to procedural committee so that this decision will urgently be considered," he said.

Earlier, NABU searched MP Onyshchenko's formal chamber on June 15. NABU Head Artem Sytnyk explained that the agency was carrying out 37 raids in three cities as part of the criminal case filed into corrupt practices with gas sale. 10 people were detained under this case.

The large scale embezzlement and creation of a crime ring inflicted damage to the state in the amount of almost 3 billion hryvnia. The investigators suspect this crime ring to be run by Onyshchenko.

Anti-Corruption Prosecutor Nazar Kholodnytskyi drafted a motion on Oleksandr Onyshchenko's arrest June 15.
