During his visit to the United States on Wednesday, June 15, Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Hroisman and Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Paul Ryan discussed the plans of the Ukrainian government for reforms, the fight against corruption, and the situation in the Donbas.

Censor.NET reports referring to Cabinet of Ministers press service.

Hroisman stressed the will of the government to carry out drastic changes and outlined the key issues on the agenda of reforms. According to him, one of the main areas of work is stepping up the fight against corruption: "Corruption robs our country of future."

Thus, according to Hroisman, the Cabinet is making efforts to launch the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption. The electronic declaration of civil servants' incomes is also to take effect soon. "This makes it possible for each official to be completely transparent and public," he said.

In addition, the Cabinet adopted a number of decisions intended to eliminate corruption in various fields, in particular the introduction of a single market gas price, the launch of public privatization of state enterprises and public service reform.

The government is also set to ensure macroeconomic stability and the continuation of cooperation with the IMF, he added.

The prime minister also praised the training of the Ukrainian Armed Forces conducted by American instructors. He noted that Ukraine needs effective defensive weapons. "Training, weapons, and modernization is what Ukrainian army needs today," Hroisman said.

He thanked the U.S. Congress and personally Speaker Paul Ryan for their support for Ukraine, which is especially important in the context of Russia's military aggression.
