He said speaking at the meeting of the EP Committee, Censor.NET reports citing 112 Ukraine TV channel.
"This year's objective is the restoration of confidence, and going after 'big fish'. The next year will be a year of promotion of the newly appointed members of the local prosecuting authorities who will climb to the top of the system's career ladder. As a politician, I will consider my mission accomplished when this happens. The fresh cadres, restoration of the prosecuting authorities' self-government by the efforts of these new members, and the abolition of the investigative functions will feature the new Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine differing from the post-Soviet one," he said.
As previously reported, Yurii Lutsenko was appointed prosecutor general on May 12. To allow this, the Verkhovna Rada adopted legislative amendments to allow a person without legal education to assume the post of prosecutor general.
Lutsenko has already made certain personnel changes and appointed Dmytro Storozhuk, Yevhen Yenin, and Valentyna Telychenko his deputies.
