Fire at landfill near Lviv eliminated, - State Emergency Service

State Emergency Service Head Mykola Chechotkin reported to the president of Ukraine that the fire at the dump site in the Lviv region had been completely extinguished.

As reported by Censor.NET, press secretary to the head of state Sviatoslav Tseholko wrote on Facebook.

The spokesperson wrote: "The fire at the dump site near Lviv has been extinguished. State Emergency Service Chairman Mykola Chechotkin has just reported this to the president.

"The president has instructed the relevant services to take necessary measures to prevent fires in the future.

"The State Emergency Service head informed that a squad of firefighters will stay at the dump site to keep vigil over it."

Earlier, a large-scale fire broke out on Hrybovytske dump site in the vicinity of Lviv on May 30. A waste pile slid and swamped three firefighters and presumably one member of a utility provider after the fire was eliminated and the firefighters were gathering the equipment and examining the site. The body of the third victim in the waste pile slide on the landfill located on the outskirts of Lviv was found late at night on May 31. A mourning for the victims of fire at the dump site was declared in Lviv June 1.
