This was announced by SBU Head Vasyl Hrytsak at the opening of his first public counseling office in Odesa, Censor.NET reports citing 112.
According to him, these attempts were inspired by "secret services of foreign countries."
"Before April 2015, they planned to creat "Bessarabia People's Republic" in nine districts of the Odesa region after blowing up two bridges. We have seized tons of documents proving that there was a candidate for South Bessarabia. According to data we received, they planned to send "green men" from Transniestia, and then to destabilize the situation in Moldova, Romania, and impose hybrid war over Europe," he said.
Hrytsak reminded that SBU conducted three mop-ups in the Odesa region in spring of 2015.
He also said that many things changed since then thanks to cooperation between SBU and other agencies, and the possibility of separatism in the region is now very low.
Hrytsak added that over the past year they neutralized 26 sabotage and recon groups outside the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) are, and more than 10 terrorist attacks were prevented in Ukraine this year.
His new counseling office will operate 24/7 and react to citizens' requests.
Earlier, SBU officers in the Odesa region blocked an attempt to spread fake movement of the so-called "People's Council of Bessarabia," inspired by representatives of Russian secret services.
