EU to implement visa-free travel for Ukrainians in September-October, - Klimkin

Ukraine has no political obstacles to obtaining visa liberalization.

As reported by Censor.NET, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin said in an interview with TSN.

"We have obtained the political decision on visa-free regime introduction. The European Commission clearly voiced that Ukraine had fulfilled its obligations. However, there are fears in the EU that a visa-free regime with Ukraine can lead to an increased migration risk since it is known that visa-free travel for other states is being considered simultaneously with the one for our country," the minister said.

He also added that the European Union has adopted a special mechanism, and as soon as it was agreed by the European Parliament, the way for a visa-free regime consideration would be open.

"I very much hope that the decision will not only be taken but also implemented this year - it will be either in October or September. This is a question of interaction between the European Parliament and the European Council. I want to assure you that there are no political reservations," the diplomat stressed.
