"According to statistics, nine journalists were killed while performing their duties. A lot of them volunteered in the army. Five journalists were killed as the troops on the front line. Many (journalists - Ed.) have lived the horrors of captivity," Andrii Parubii told reporters in Kyiv on Tuesday, Censor.NET informs citing Interfax-Ukraine.
On Tuesday, the speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament has awarded 11 Ukrainian journalists who cover the military conflict in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) area.
According to press secretary to the Verkhovna Rada chairman Andrii Kovaliov, more journalists were put forward for the decoration, but some of them were in the anti-terrorist operation zone in the east of Ukraine at that time. They will also receive their awards in the near future.
