Head of the Russian gas monopoly Alexey Miller said, Censor.NET reports citing RIA Novosti.
The day before, Naftohaz CEO Andrii Koboliev said on air of Channel 5 that Ukraine might resume purchasing Russian gas if Gazprom agrees to make amendments to the contract in terms of prices offering a better price than the European one.
Commenting on this statement, Miller said that Ukraine had already turned to the company with the request.
"Yes, indeed, we received a formal letter from the head of Naftohaz of Ukraine yesterday with the request to resume Russian gas supplies. The nine-month term was meant: the second half of 2016 and the first quarter of 2017. That covers the upcoming winter and the period of preparation for it," he said.
