 Russian militants employed banned mortars and artillery against Ukrainian troops today, - Staff

The situation in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) zone remains tense. Militants of the illegal armed groups backed by the Russian Federation attacked the Ukrainian detachments 11 times today.

Censor.NET reports citing the latest update by the ATO Staff press center as of 6 p.m. on June 6.

According to the situation report, the greatest number of today's attacks was committed at the Mariupol section of the front. The Ukrainian troops' positions near Bohdanivka were heavily shelled by the Russian mercenaries with 122-mm self-propelled guns in blatant violation of the Minsk agreements. A total of 30 rounds were fired.

The enemy was employing 82-mm mortars against the ATO forces' positions in the vicinity of Butivka mine, Opytne and Maiorsk throughout the day while the Ukrainian detachments' strongholds near Marinka were fired at with small arms.

The militants were trying to hit the strong points on the outskirts of Sokilnyky with anti-tank guided missiles.

The militants were also assaulting the Ukrainian troops' positions near Novoselivka with automatic grenade launchers and 82-mm mortars as well as fired at the positions near Shyrokyne with large-caliber machine guns.
