Bucha, Irpin bid farewell to 53rd Brigade's Vasyl Fitskalynets killed in Zaitseve. VIDEO
Irpin and Bucha (the Kyiv region) bid last goodbye to senior intelligence officer of the 53rd Mechanised Brigade Vasyl Fitskalynets. The 42-year-old soldier was killed near Zaitseve on the night of June 1 in a two-headshot attack by an enemy sniper. Three kids have lost their father, while Vasyl's wife will soon give birth to another son.
Vasyl Fitskalynets was mobilized during the sixth round. Last July, he arrived at the Yavoriv training ground to train recruits how to move around the battlefield. In March 2016, he started to carry out combat missions in the area of anti-terrorist operation (ATO) in Zaitseve (the Donetsk region). A few hundred people came to bid last farewell to the hero as a salute was fired to honor the fallen fighter, Censor.NET reports citing 5 Channel.
"It happened at around 11 p.m. on May 31. The fighter was hit by a sniper of Russian terrorists. Vasyl's comrades came to render aid but unfortunately he was barely breathing by then," volunteers described the circumstances of the hero's death.
