Prosecutor General Yurii Lutsenko said during a meeting with the representatives of the U.S. congress. The official published his speech in a blog on Ukrainska Pravda.
"I'm going to replace the majority of regional prosecutors. Of course, I will protect the investigators. But the leaders should be 35 to 40-year-old mid-level employees. These young people need to change the atmosphere in the regional prosecutors' offices," he stressed.
"When the president offered me the position, I said that I would agree only on two conditions: a total carte blanche in regard of all the officials of any political party or region, and that I would head the Prosecutor's Office for up to two years. During this time, I want to bring more young people from the outside, from the lawyers' environment to the local prosecutors' offices. I think that grass would break through the asphalt over these two years. But first we need to lay off the old prosecutors," he said.
Lutsenko voiced PGO's priorities for coming year
