Russia wouldn't mind OSCE to be armed with pistols in Donbas

Russia is ready for a compromise on providing the OSCE representatives with personal firearms in the Donbas.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told Russia-1 TV Channel, Censor.NET reports citing Ria Novosti.

Lavrov suggested that OSCE monitors could be armed with pistols for self-defense purposes.

"We can interpret this as an element of policing, but first of all we are talking about monitoring of weapon withdrawal process," he said.

Earlier, Petro Poroshenko asked Germany to accelerate deploying of the OSCE armed police mission in the Donbas.
