Censor.NET informs citing the situation report by the ATO Staff press center as at 6 a.m. June 2.
"The number of attacks at the Mariupol section of the front line increased drastically as 35 assaults were recorded there. The strong points near Vodiane, Hnutove, Talakivka, and Shyrokyne came under the enemy fire. The militants fired at positions in Novotroitske with a ZU-23 anti-aircraft gun.
"Russian mercenaries repeatedly attacked our positions in the vicinity of Avdiivka with small arms, high-caliber machine guns, grenade launchers, and 82-mm mortars," the update reads.
The Staff noted that the enemy fired 23 rounds with 120-mm mortars banned by the Minsk Agreements at the Ukrainian soldiers' fortifications at the approaches to Novoselivka Druha in the afternoon.
It is also reported that hostilities intensified at the Svitlodarsk salient. Small-arms, high-caliber machine guns, and grenade launchers were employed by the enemy against the Ukrainian forces' positions located there.
"In addition, the enemy subversive and reconnaissance groups have intensified as well: a 10-men strong subversive and reconnaissance group attempting to penetrate into our rear was spotted by observation posts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Marinka around 7 p.m. and near Troitske at 8 p.m. The militants' plans were thwarted by relevant countermeasures and they were forced to retreat," the ATO Staff press center informed.
It was relatively calm in the Luhansk region yesterday.
