Dnipro, Horishni Plavni become official names as Rada speaker signs debatable resolutions

Head of the Verkhovna Rada Andrii Parubii has signed two resolutions (No. 4085-P and No. 3864-P) that stipulate renaming certain settlements and areas under the decommunisation law.

As reported by Censor.NET, the speaker signed the documents at a briefing after the session on Wednesday.

According to him, this enacts regulations on decommunisation that were adopted previously.

"I believe we are honored to witness such important and responsible decisions," he said.

The resolutions, among other things, provide for renaming Dnipropetrovsk Dnipro and Komsomolsk (the Poltava region) Horishni Plavni.

Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada passed a number of resolutions to rename certain topographic names under the decommunisation law. Many of them caused heated debate in the parliament and a public outcry.
