Savchenko got up on the parliament's stand with Ukraine's national flag. "Glory to Ukraine! Glory to Heroes!" she said.
"I am a Member of the Parliament Nadiia Savchenko. I have returned and join the work now. I want to thank all Ukrainians who have fought for me, raising the consciousness of Ukrainian and international communities and demonstrating them what Ukraine is. I want to thank all the good and decent people who have supported both me and Ukraine.
"I want to apologize to Vadym Puhachov's mother as her son gave his life for my freedom. I am sorry that I'm alive and your child is dead. I have returned and I will not let those who sit in these chairs forget the guys who started dying for Ukraine on Maidan and now continue dying for it in the Donbas," Savchenko said.
Following these words, Savchenko removed a banner with her image from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada and replaced it by the one with pictures of the Ukrainian captives.
"I am in the parliament now. I am taking my portrait away from the parliament's stand and replace it by the portraits of the guys who will gaze into your eyes, who are still in the enemy's rear today fighting for our Ukraine. I am doing this for you to face them every time you will be speaking from this stand and realize that you have no right not to get the last of them out," Savchenko added.
