Negotiations on return of 25 Ukrainian prisoners underway, - Poroshenko

A preliminary agreement on the return of Russian-held prisoners Hennadii Afanasiev and former Znamya factory CEO Yurii Soloshenko in Ukraine has been reached.

As reported by Censor.NET citing Ukrainski Novyny, this was said by President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko in an interview with Inter TV channel.

"I can only say that according to the preliminary agreement we should count on return of Soloshenko and Afanasiev home," the head of state said.

In addition, Poroshenko said that intensive negotiations on the return of 25 citizens of Ukraine held in captivity in the temporarily occupied territories were underway.

"War will not end until the last prisoner is not returned home, until the last killed soldier is not given appropriate tribute, until the last missing person is not found and not returned," he said.

Poroshenko stressed that the return of the captives was his first priority.
