Border control issue is crucial regarding implementation of Minsk agreements, - Poroshenko

The question of regaining control over the state border by Ukraine is crucial to the implementation of the Minsk agreements.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko announced, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraina.

"Border control issue is crucial regarding implementation of the Minsk agreements," Poroshenko said at the events dedicated to the Day of Border Guard of Ukraine.

"Putin commented yesterday that we should find a so-called "political solution", we should hold the elections, and then we will deal with the cease-fire and restoration of the control [over the Russian-Ukrainian border - ed.]. It is their scenario of elections, under the guns of Putin's commandos. "How should we stop them, when they open fire from time to time?," he [Putin - ed.] says. It's quite simple, because these are the soldiers of the Russian regular army and the militants, supervised by Russian commanders, who open fire," the president said, adding that the Security Service (SBU) and the General intelligence provided compelling evidence of such activities.

As the president noted, these attacks are carried out even with the use of Russian weapons.

Poroshenko also mentioned that the Minsk agreement presuppose "withdrawal of the occupation forces from entire Ukrainian territory and restoration of Ukrainian control over the state border".

Moreover, he supported the idea of bringing the OSCE SMM's international armed police in the Donbas.
