Ministry of Defense spokesman Dmytro Hutsuliak said at today's briefing, Censor.NET reports citing MoD press service.
"The benefits of contract service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine first of all include cash collateral which has significantly increased in 2016 and can compete with an average monthly salary of civil specialists. A first-year soldier receives an allowance in the amount of 7,000 hryvnia (approx. $278), an officer - from 9,000 hryvnia (approx. $358)," the spokesman stated.
He also added that the execution of tasks in the frontline of anti-terrorist operation area (ATO) involves an extra allowance in the amount of 4,200 hryvnia (approx. $166). Everyone else serving beyond the frontline receives an additional allowance of 1, 200 hryvnia (approx. $48).
"In addition to material incentives under the contract service, there is an opportunity to pursue higher education at the state's expense, enjoy free medical, clothing, and preferential resort benefits," Hutsuliak said.
