 Five Berkut officers accused of murdering 48 Maidan protesters plead not guilty

Former officers of the Interior Ministry riot police unit "Berkut" accused of murdering 48 activists of the Revolution of Dignity in 2014 plead not guilty.

As reported by Censor.NET citing LІGA.net, they said it today at a session in the Sviatoshynskyi district court of Kyiv.

After hearing all charges, former Berkut officers Pavlo Abroskin, Serhii Zinchenko, Oleh Yanyshevskyi, Oleksandr Marynchenko, and Serhii Tamtura said they did not plead guilty of violence against Maidan protesters.

In addition, the defendants indicated willingness to testify. Yanyshevskyi and Tamtura also confirmed they had status of anti-terrorist operation combatants.

The five former Berkut officers are suspected of murdering 48 Maidan activists and wounding another 80.
