Kremlin confirms Putin's intention to hold telephone talks over Ukraine in Normandy format tonight

President Vladimir Putin of Russia scheduled a telephone conversation with presidents of Ukraine and France as well as German chancellor (the so-called “Normandy format”) for Tuesday night.

As reported by Censor.NET, this information was confirmed to Interfax by Russian President's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.

Peskov told reporters that "Putin expects to take part in international talks late at night. It will take place as late as after midnight". Asked by Interfax whether this phone conversation would be in the Normandy format, Peskov answered affirmatively.

Earlier on Monday, the press office of the president of Ukraine informed that Petro Poroshenko was to hold a telephone conversation in the Normandy format on Monday night following his return from Istanbul. These talks would be the development of the trilateral negotiations Poroshenko held with French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel on May 21.
