No prospects of elections in Donbas this year, - Trilateral Contact Group expert Aivazovska

It is impossible to hold elections in the occupied Donbas in 2016.

As reported by Censor.NET, this was announced by expert of the Trilateral Contact Group (political subgroup) in Minsk Olha Aivazovska in an interview with LІGA.net.

"There is a list of conditions without which we'll not proceed to elections. It must be admitted that the process of their fulfillment has not even begun. This year, there are no prospects of holding elections there, and as for 2017, it's hard to say, since there are many unpredictable things: the state register of voters, the lists of voters, the return of Ukrainian parties and media to the temporarily occupied territories," she said.

"Each of the aspects has its own time frame. For example, if we talk about the media, except for political will, there is also a technical component. It is necessary to rebuild the infrastructure that would ensure the spread of Ukrainian signal. And if we can at least theoretically reckon the number of months or years for its restoration, it's absolutely impossible to predict how our opponents will resist this process," the expert remarked.
