This was announced by former SBU Head Valentyn Nalyvaichenko, Censor.NET reports citing UNIAN.
"As I stated as head of the SBU, Ukrainian court had to hold Girkin and other participial citizens of the Russian Federation accountable for downing of the plane", he said.
According to him, it would make it possible to recognize Russia accountable for the crash.
"However, the country's leadership did not respond to my offer to apply legal pressure on Russia. They chose political benefits and lobbying of the interests of the aggressor country, rather than of Ukraine," he added.

He also suggested that the absence of such criminal proceeding in Ukraine may lead to claims against Ukraine. According to him, this may happen because the plane was shot down over Ukraine and in Ukrainian airspace, even though the area was controlled by the terrorists.
