"Derailing peace process under the guise of anything is absolutely irresponsible towards the state," - Poroshenko on Azov's march

Commenting on the rally of the Azov Civil Corps that took place in Kyiv on Friday, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stressed that attempts to undermine the peace process will only lead to the continuation of occupation.

He stated this during a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Censor.NET reports quoting presidential press service.

According to Poroshenko, the only way to restore the sovereignty of Ukraine over the occupied areas of the Donbas is a political and diplomatic settlement.

"I cannot but say a few words about today's march in Kyiv. Russian TV channels were the first to broadcast those images - tires, firecrackers, reports about wounded policemen and civilians. These staged pictures are spread in order to demonstrate that someone is allegedly trying to destabilize the situation in the country. I emphasize once again - there is no military way to return the Donbas," Poroshenko said.

Poroshenko stressed that the main points of the Minsk agreements are based on his peace plan. "Derailing the peace process under the guise of anything is absolutely irresponsible towards the state and will lead only to the continuation of occupation of certain parts of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions," he noted.

"As president and supreme commander-in-chief, I cannot let it happen. It is not my scenario," Poroshenko emphasized and added that the majority of Ukrainians stand for peace and the peaceful return of Ukrainian sovereignty to occupied territories.
