"The meeting has approved the Strategic Defense Bulletin that defines the main objectives and directions of Ukraine's defense sector reform. The document was prepared in close cooperation with NATO advisers. It stipulates the development of Ukraine's defense capabilities before 2020, Armed Forces management system reform under NATO standards, as well as the enhancing of the democratic civil control over security structures of the state. The document contains concrete tasks and tight deadlines for their implementation. It will become a basis for strategic planning in defense sector, which will translate into appropriate government programs. The adoption of the Bulletin is an important step toward strengthening our country's Euro-Atlantic integration and Ukraine's defense capabilities.
"The meeting has also discussed a number of issues related to the implementation of defense tasks and development of the military-industrial complex of Ukraine.
"In particular, it has been decided to significantly improve the governance in this area. During the discussion, the participants set out specific measures to develop the capacity of defense companies that provide the Ukrainian Armed Forces and other military formations with modern arms and military equipment.
"The NSDC members have also discussed the problems arising from the financing of the State Defense Order and important military programs due to the absence of legislative framework that would regulate the filling of state budget's special fund. In this context, the Cabinet of Ministers was instructed to take urgent measures to address this issue and provide funding for defense and security sector in its entirety.
"In addition, the meeting has considered the issue of special restrictive measures (sanctions). In accordance with the decision of the UN Security Council, personal, special, economic, and other restrictive measures (sanctions) against the citizens of Iran were relaxed," the press service stated.
