Pensions of up to 350,000 Ukrainians to be exempted from taxes, vice prime minister says

Tax exemption of pensions stipulated by the government’s decision from May 1 will be applied to about 350,000 Ukrainian citizens.

As reported by Censor.NET citing the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers, this was stated by Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Rozenko on air of Hromadske radіo.

"The most numerous categories (of pensioners - Ed.) are the miners, Chornobyl victims and liquidators, military, and research engineers. These are the people with long employment history who retired on pension and had been receiving average salaries prior to that," he said.

Rozenko recalled that May 19, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the government bill to exempt pensions from income tax from May 1 in the first reading and made a decsion to speed up its finalization before the second reading.

"There is a great deal of hope that the bill will be adopted as a whole as early as next plenary week since the government has stipulated that pensions should be exempted from income tax from May 1, 2016. That is, we will have to execute this law retroactively," the vice prime minister said.
