 Russian-backed terrorists committed 15 attacks on Ukrainian troops yesterday, - Staff

The situation in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) zone remains tense. The enemy continued blatantly violating the armistice including by attacks with heavy weapons.

Censor.NET informs citing the situation report by the ATO Staff press center as of 6 a.m. May 20.

According to the Staff, the pro-Russian illegal armed groups fired at the Ukrainian detachments 15 times over the past 24 hours.

"The industrial zone on the southern outskirts of Avdiivka remains the hottest spot due to constant hostilities. The militants repeatedly employed small arms, grenade launchers, 82-mm and 120-mm mortars against our strong points situated there.

"The gangs committed several attacks to the fortified positions of the ATO forces near Novotroitske at the Mariupol section of the front using large-caliber machine guns, grenade launchers of various systems, and anti-aircraft guns," the latest update reads.

According to the ATO Staff press center, the enemy also shelled Ukrainian soldiers deployed near the village of Syze in the Luhansk region with a tripod-mounted antitank grenade launcher.

Besides, the enemy UAVs were again recorded carrying out air reconnaissance in the Donetsk region last night.

"The militants have already violated the cease-fire deal at least three times today. They have committed strikes on the ATO forces' strong points near Avdiivka and Opytne using 82-mm and 120-mm caliber mortars," the Staff added.
