Dekanoidze dwelled on lawyer's "killing" in Odesa: "Police detained group involved in kidnapping, blackmail, and murders". VIDEO

Chief of the National Police of Ukraine Khatia Dekanoidze has unveiled the details of the special operation involving a staged homicide of lawyer Oleksandr Pohorelyi.

Censor.NET reports referring to Dekanoidze's Facebook page.

"We've got many questions about the attack on Lexus in Odesa. The situation is as follows: last night, in the Odessa region, we detained a group that had been involved in kidnapping, blackmail, and murders for several years. The victims were mostly people from socially disadvantaged groups, who were kidnapped and forced to re-register their property in favor of the gang members," she wrote.

According to Dekanoidze, a lawyer, who takes an active role in uncovering criminal schemes involving the distribution of resort area land in the Odesa region, went to the police. In particular, the applicant claimed he had received threats in connection with his activities - the implementation of an investment project intended for the construction of embankment in Zatoka village.

As also noted, law enforcers for several months documented the fact of attackers' preparing to commit the unlawful killing. In order to detain the persons behind the attempt, the police had to stage a fake murder of the lawyer a few days ago.

"As a result of a well-planned special operation under the leadership of National Police Main Investigation Department and Internal Security Department, the suspects have been detained and a hostage, kidnapped previously for the purpose of extortion, released. More than 30 searches have been already conducted, during which the police seized firearms. The investigation is underway," Dekanoidze wrote.
