 Ukraine’s Armed Forces adopt new domestically produced light machine gun, - MoD Spokesperson Chornobai

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has introduced a new domestically produced infantry machine gun into service with the Armed Forces.

Spokesman for the Defense Ministry of Ukraine Oleksii Chornobai said at a briefing in Kyiv, Censor.NET reports citing UNIAN.

"The light machine gun KM-7.62 ( Upgraded machine gun KM-7.62 was developed by plant "Mayak" using the scheme of PKM - Ed. ) has been put into service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Thus, five new models of weapons and military equipment have been included in the inventory of the Ukrainian army since the beginning of the year," Chornobai said.

He also said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had successfully tested Kozak, Varta, KrAZ, and Bars armored vehicles as well as multi-purpose truck by Renault.

"The tests confirmed that the performance of the mentioned hardware fully complied with specifications submitted by the manufacturer. The issue of this equipment supplies to the Armed Forces of Ukraine is currently been tackled," Chornobai said.

According to him, over the last week, the repair crews of the Armed Forces of Ukraine delivered 132 pieces of weapons and military equipment, including tanks, howitzers, cannons, and combat vehicles, in the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) area to perform combat missions. Thus, the repair detachments have refurbished about 48,000 pieces of weapons and military equipment since the beginning of the anti-terrorist operation.
