Ukraine enters final phase of gas market creation, energy minister says

Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Ihor Nasalyk is convinced that discussion of draft legislative acts with market participants contributes to creation of a functioning law.

Energy Minister Ihor Nasalyk said at a meeting with representatives of gas supplying companies, Naftohaz of Ukraine, and MPs, Censor.NET reports citing the web-portal of the Ukrainian Government.

The minister noted that the legislation amendments will be implemented comprehensibly, transparently, and with the involvement of all market participants.

Nasalyk stressed that the efficient cooperation with the relevant parliamentary committee accelerated adoption of laws necessary to make the natural gas market fully operational. The minister announced in particular that the bill "On Amendments to Some Laws of Ukraine in terms of providing conditions necessary for the natural gas market operation" developed by the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry was to be heard by the committee on Wednesday. It will be submitted to the parliament after its approval by the Rada committee.

The minister said that 30 out of 33 secondary legislation documents concerning the law "On the natural gas market" had already been prepared.

"We enter the final phase of the market relations establishment," Nasalyk said.
