According to the Staff, the enemy fired at the Ukrainian forces' strongholds 36 times over the past day. Besides, one clash took place yesterday.
"The pro-Russian gangs significantly intensified hostile actions in the vicinity of Donetsk. The militants intensively fired at our positions near Avdiivka and Krasnohorivka from Donetsk suburbs using 82-mm and 120-mm mortars, small arms, and grenade launchers. The thugs employed grenade launchers of various systems and small arms against our fortified positions near Marinka.
"The enemy subversive and reconnaissance group covered by fire with grenade launchers, antiaircraft guns, and 82-mm mortars tried to battle through into our rear in the vicinity of Opytne village located near the Donetsk airport. The saboteurs have been detected in time. A fight broke out and the attackers were forced to retreat," the statement reads.
As for the Horlivka-Svitlodarsk salient, it was noted that the enemy shelled the Ukrainian soldiers deployed on the outskirts of Zaitseve village with automatic grenade launchers and 82-mm mortars yesterday evening as well as fired at the ATO forces' strongholds not far from Luhanske village with small arms and grenade launchers.
"The militants continue resorting to armed provocations against the ATO forces at the Mariupol section of the front using grenade launchers of various systems, high-caliber machine guns, and small arms. At least three such attacks were recorded yesterday.
"The attacks were also recorded in the Luhansk region. The invaders fired at our positions near Shchastia with automatic grenade launchers and large-caliber machine guns," the Staff reported.
The attacks reportedly continued today as well. The pro-Russian gangs used weapons banned by the Minsk agreements, in particular 120-mm mortars, 122-mm cannons, and tanks near Avdiivka. The militants shelled the Ukrainian troops' positions near Novotroitske, Taramchuk, and Hranitne at the Mariupol section of the front with 82-mm and 120-mm mortars.
