According to the news agency's source, the European Commission's legal position on the visa liberalization with Ukraine will be considered in the European Parliament by the Committee of Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs.
"It is our committee that will deal with the proposal on the introduction of visa-free regime with Ukraine, which has been submitted by the European Commission, but the rapporteur on this issue has not yet been determined," the secretariat representative told Deutsche Welle, noting that the rapporteur will be appointed "in the coming weeks".
At the same time, a source in the committee secretariat refused to name the exact date when the "first discussion on Ukraine's issue" would take place citing a heavy workload in the committee. However, the committee secretariat representative noted that the next LIBE Committee meeting was scheduled for May 23, 24 and 30.
"It is possible to suggest so far that the issue of visa liberalization with Ukraine will be discussed by the EP Committee on one of these days as the final agenda of the committee meetings shall be published one or two days before the meeting, in accordance with the EP rules," Deutsche Welle wrote.
