 Ukrainian sappers defused more than 112,000 explosive items in Donbas during ATO, - General Staff

Since the beginning of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) in the Donbas, Ukrainian army sappers have detected and defused more than 112,000 explosive objects.

"Over the week, mine clearing teams have detected and destroyed 525 explosive devices and checked 15.5 hectares of territory. Overall, since the beginning of the anti-terrorist operation, military sappers have neutralized 112,093 explosive items and checked 2389.61 hectares of territory for the presence of mines and explosive remnants," the report notes.

Sappers primarily clear those areas of liberated territories, which influence the functioning of infrastructure facilities and satisfaction of vital needs.

"According to the agreements reached in the framework of the Trilateral Contact Group, the demining of 12 priority areas is underway in order to ensure carrying out repairs of electricity, water, and gas supply facilities," the report stresses.

In addition, engineers continue to put warring signs and fence mined areas near the checkpoints at the line of contact.
