It is imperative to urgently allocate funds for defense order, otherwise same displays of troops as in Donetsk and Luhansk to be held in Kyiv, MP Pashynskyi says

The Verkhovna Rada is to tackle issues on the state defense order provisioning on Thursday in order to prevent holding of pro-Russian military parades in Kyiv by the example of May 9 celebration in Donetsk and Luhansk.

National Security and Defense Committee Chairman, People's Front faction MP Serhii Pashynskyi said at the coordination board, Censor.NET reports citing the People's Front press service.

"I'd like want to draw the attention to the situation with the state defense order. The budget should provide investment from the reserve fund obtained through special confiscation of assets owned by Yanukovych. There is no such law now and the state defense order is blocked," Pashynskyi said.

According to the National Security and Defense Committee chairman, only 0.5 percent of the total state budget, which is 3.6 billion hryvnias (about $144 million), is required to implement the state defense order.

"If we fail to do this, then we are not worth a dime. If other issues are more important for us, I advise to watch the displays of troops held in Donetsk and Luhansk on May 9. If we keep implementing reforms this way, the military parades in Kyiv may be the same," Serhii Pashynskyi said.

He stressed that the MPs had actually blocked public procurement of the army by their harebrained actions. Therefore, the Verkhovna Rada should adopt the bill No. 4288 Thursday morning.
